A Second Pinkberry!
Published by foodette June 18th, 2007 in Brentwood, Dessert, Los Angeles.Yes, you read this correctly. A second Pinkberry is opening up within walking distance to my apartment. I mentioned it once, and I will say it again: will Pinkberry become the next Starbucks? I am certainly not the only person who thinks this. Sean at Franchise Pick raised the same question.
Let me explain: There are two Starbucks within a mile of each other in Brentwood. One is located on Barrington and San Vicente and the other is located at Barrington and Sunset. My husband and I are basically flanked by Starbucks. Pinkberry seems to be copying this concept, as they are in the process of opening two stores, and each one a few doors down from each Starbucks.
Soon, just like we do with Starbucks, my husband and I will ask each other, “Do you want to go to the Pinkberry up the street, or the Pinkberry down the street?”

they’re just starting to show up here and there in nyc. although one of them was spotted with rats running around.
Pinkberry and Starbucks, I like them both. More, more, more, how do you like it? Starbucks is the best but Pinkberry may only be second as the best has the be that chain in Puerto Rico called Yogen Fruz.
Pinkberry Rocks. The Brentwood Yogurt Cafe can’t survive the chilly bliss. The only competition may be Red Mango and Yogen Fruz from Japan.
Haha… make sure you wear really big glasses and a puffy nylon vest when you order your swirly goodness. We did it last night to inquisitive stares from the Starbucks patio.
Pinknest - I did notice on Pinkberry’s website that there are three locations in NYC. Watch out - they seem to multiply like bunnies.
Freedom - I am a big fan of Starbucks - it’s my favorite place to get coffee in the US. Europe does much better espresso, but until we Americans learn their secrets, I will stick with Starbucks. You are the second person who has mentioned Yogen Fruz - I hope to get a chance to try it someday. Also, I agree - now that I have tasted Pinkberry, I really don’t think that the Brentwood Yogurt Cafe will be around much longer.
Scott - Thanks for all of the tips! I am sure I wouldn’t have even noticed it was open until this weekend. I wore the big sunglasses, but I don’t own a puffy vest
Oh well.
Thanks for the link!
Is Pinkberry really that good? Someone told me a lot of the Internet hype is paid buzz marketing. True? Comments seem a little 2 good 2 b true sometimes. If so… somebody make me an offer. Or send me some product.
Sean - well, my “hype” wasn’t paid for, though I wish it was! Honestly, for froyo, I definitely liked it. It’s not as good as ice cream, but for a fat free version, it’s the best I have tried. I really only like it with fruit, though. I don’t like the taste combo of the sour yogurt and cereal. I think it’s a nice treat for dessert, and maybe it’ll be the next Starbucks. Only thing is, Starbucks has that whole “legal addictive stimulants” thing going for it, so who knows? I guess, for me, if I have to pay $8.50 for two desserts, I can at least console myself that it was fat free and low cal. Still, I think I’d rather have a martini
FRUCCI YOGURT is so much cheaper and tastier than Pinkberry.
I recommend their pina colada~! Unbelievably delicious!!!
