Valentines Day

Well, it’s that time of year again.  A time that, for me, always feels so stressful.  Even though I am married, it still gets to me every year.  Valentines Day.  Ugh.  The planning (or lack thereof in my case) that it involves is just too much.

This year, with my new job, I am unable to determine my schedule for Thursday until probably Wednesday.  Well, let me tell you that I have no chance in Hell in getting a reservation the night before V-Day.  So, then I was thinking I would just cook a romantic dinner, but of course, my work schedule will not allow for much of that either.

Nope, I think I will just give up.  I haven’t even bought a card for my husband yet.  Last year, I waited until the last minute, and the only available cards at my local CVS were in Spanish.

As a last ditch effort, I am considering ordering a $30 cake from SusieCakes in Brentwood.  But, again, I am not too sure if there will be any available this late in the month.  I got an email from them about a week-and-a-half ago saying to order my cake now.  But, at the time, I was thinking I would go out to dinner.

Yes, I have procrastinated this issue for a few weeks now, and will be left with nothing to do on the big day.  Do I care about this Hallmark-invented holiday?  I always say no, but I know that once Thursday rolls around, I will be sad to have not planned anything.

And, for those of you who think that my husband might just surprise me and have planned it himself, I have to say you don’t know my husband.  He is worse than I am, that’s for sure.  Where I will say I don’t care, and then care at the last minute, he will not even register why there are so many heart-shaped chocolate boxes all around this time of year.  Oh, and husband, if you are reading this, you know it’s true - don’t deny it! :)

Anyway, since my husband and I are such losers that we can’t put together a nice V-Day for ourselves, maybe some of you loyal readers will fill me in on your details.  I would love to know your plans (clean versions, please).  That way, I can at least live vicariously through your Valentines, while I spend my night at the office.

P.S.  I shouldn’t complain too much, now should I?  So maybe my husband and I do nothing on Valentines Day, but anyone who reads this blog knows that we go on dates out to dinner all the time.  Still, there’s just something about that mass-marketed day, isn’t there?…….

Hey Foodette! We aren’t very big V-Day people at the Wannabe Wino house, but this year it turns out I do have plans, sort of, by chance. I am having a hair do makeover and am getting photographed for a local magazine so I am taking the day off from work and then Matt and I are meeting when his day is over at one of our favorite local pizza places where they don’t take reservations anyway!
